Watering the garden?

I have a potager garden that will be photo worthy within the next few weekends, and would like to know how all of you water your potager? I have five island beds then a large bed that surrounds the islands. I want to us a drip line to keep it off of the foliage, but I do not know how to string it so as not to water the paths. How can I "jump" the paths and water the island beds? What would you do?

I read here occasionally, but haven't posted before. I use the black round soaker hoses in my flower beds. To "bridge" an area I use plain garden hose. I cut both garden hose and soaker hose to fit my purposes. Moni

How do you re-attach/splice the soaker and the garden hoses after the cut?

I buy lots of male and female replacement ends, and put them on. That way, I can even change my mind, and make a soaker hose longer. :) Moni

We just ran into this problem today - we used little soaker hoses in big zig zags across the beds, and where they crossed the paths, buried them under the mulch we use for the paths. So, our paths will get water under them a little. We used the purchased connectors as well.
