I thought I ought to contribute a bit, since I have been hoping this forum would get more attention/postings! So although it is a little rough still, here is the start of my new potager...it is just off our driveway, in full sun. The first 3 raised beds were here when we bought the house, I added the back 3 last month. You can't see it in this photo very well but behind the beds are a row of raspberries, a red currant bush (hoping to make jelly eventually) and a concord grape-they are all in need of trellises, added to dh's list! I want to add a row of teddy bear sunflowers along the fence on the left side, and the windmill centerpiece was a Mothers Day gift from my 3 sons about 5 years ago-might plant morning glories on it, still deciding! here's one more-The cold frame was built by my husband, from an old wooden window. The yellow building in the back is my neighbors...their horse will be in the pasture behind my garden soon so I am being careful not to plant too close to the fence and tempt him!

Hey Zinnia Mama!
That's exactly what I am doing! My problem is getting time to lay down the edging to hold the wood chips in...I'm on a smaller scale than you are. Just three beds. Yours looks so neat and clean. I hope mine looks as good when it's finished. I've got it all pretty much planted for the next few months, just not the chip paths in place!

Great job Zinnia Mama . . . that's a lot of beds! Lucky you.
I only have room for two beds, but hey, it'll work *lol*

I hope this forum gets more activity, maybe we need to spread the word.

Your plants will love those raised beds. Soil warms up faster in them, and drainage is excellent. You did a great job - looks so neat and professional.

Have fun!

Is that a greenhouse in the background?

I have terrible greenhouse envy but I am working to resolve it :-)

yes,it is a greenhouse, though ancient I love it. My uncle bought a piece of investment property and this old greenhouse was there, abandoned and covered with moss. He was going to haul it to the dump until he heard I wanted it! Its my first spring using it and I have had much better germination with my seed starting than ever before. Plus its nice to store tools and potting material so close to the potager. Costco had some very nice greenhouses this year, but still about $3000. I have also seen neat plans online to build one out of recycled glass shower doors and corrugated clear plastic roofing. That was my "someday" plan before God blessed me with this one.

Look at all those beds! You are going to be busy! Make sure to post pictures in a month so we can see how it is developing.
