Just saw this. My raspberries are next to a row of strawberries, and they don't seem to spread much at all. If they do I can simply dig out the extra shoot and transplant it back in the proper row.

Mine are in their own raised bed. they have taken it over and doing really well. the shoots can come up months after the plants have been moved. I found this fact out for myself when I finally moved the raspberries to their own bed. They are worth the little bit of trouble they cause with spreading though! side note: Heritage raspberries are by far, my favorite choice.

My raspberry is next to my blueberry. Yes, they do spread and they are difficult to dig up. Make sure you have a patch that's at least twice as big as you initially planted.
