 o
Species seperation ??

I've always heard that you shouldn't plant differing squash to close together for they will cross pollinate... So what is a good distance between them then? I'm planning on doing over my veggie garden into more raised beds in the potager style but am concerned about planting things to close and having them cross... Is there a general recommendation on this? Thank you

That only matters if you are planning on collecting seeds. It won't affect the fruit this year. As far as didtance to prevent crossing I'm not really sure. Given that they are insect pollinated I would think the more distance you can give the better.

I've seen some the pictures on here and it made me wonder.... I've seen really small gardens and they have everything growing so maybe it's not that important unless you plan on seed saving????? Thanls

Yes, echoes_or,

Unless you plan on saving seeds, you only have to allow for spacing (for growth above and below ground, and availability of light) and plant compatability when interplanting.

Here is a link that might be useful: COMPANION PLANTING

Sweetannie,

That companion planting link you posted is amazing! Thank you for sharing it.
