Herblady - Another great idea! Those would look great grouped on a large deck too.

Carol - I think the mozzarella bushes are tucked in under the pepperoni trees. hehe.

Herblady, I have a question:
Did you paint the insides of the tubs as well as the outsides? And when you say "paint especially for metal", does that mean rust-proof, outdoor paint like for railings?

Great idea. There are 3 large terra cotta tile that i've been trying to think what to do with. Now I know !
Looks like the rest of your gardens are lovely, too.

Batya - Most of the metal washtubs are galvanized so they won't rust. I painted only the outside. I used Rustoleum spray paint for metal. I first sprayed with a white primer than spray painted two coats of the color.

Herblady - I gave my Herb presentation this past Tuesday and everyone was so impressed with all your beautiful herbs and your gorgeous garden. They especially loved these pictures of your wash tub gardens. Thank you so much for sharing your pictures and love of herbs with me and with my garden club!!

I did the same and used large water tanks tossed by the farmers ranchers because they leaked. I painted the with house paint expecting to have to do it each year. So far three years and they are still looking pretty good. I do not seem to have any good pictures of them planted??
