If I had unlimited money, I would do a picket style fence and then line the inside with chicken wire. Unfortunately, that is out of my price range so we are putting up a welded wire horse fence around the perimeter and along the bottom lining it with chicken wire. To make it more attractive, the outside will be planted with perennial beds and shrubs, etc.

Hmmm... lining a 'real' fence with chicken wire... that's a good idea! My Potager is pretty small, so that might actually be a possibility... thanks for the tip!

Newbie, I'm wondering: are Texas bunnyrabbits able to jump higher than our New England ones? I used 18" high chickenwire inside a more open metal wire fencing and it kept them out. Also, was able to grow peas up the wire.

You can use chicken wire to fence them out and they generally won't try to jump over a fence. But they will try to burrow under it, so you need to bury about 6" of fence all the way around the bottom. If you angle the wire outwards from the fenceline most of the digging critters will be discouraged from trying to get inside. If you try to grow corn or potatoes you may get racoons or 'possums climbing over the fence. I have chickens and racoons climb my 10' fence to get to the eggs. They are extremely intelligent. Cheryl

I really like the green vinyl coated fencing from Home Depot that comes in 2, 3 and 4 foot heights. It is nicer looking than chicken wire and almost disappears due to the green color. I wrapped it around my raised beds and two feet seemed to be enough to keep them out, though 3 feet might be a safer bet in case your rabbits are more determined than mine.
