Any winter projects?

BOY is it slow around here!
Any yard art or other projects you're thinking of this winter to while your time away?
We just heard that our school is being given a kiln!
I'm thinking I'll have the students make garden markers. I have a set for making cement ones with all of the letters etc.
They can sell them and use the $ for their student garden (spec ed 18-22)
DH is slacking on getting a green house built, so I think I'll probably make a mini for starting seeds in the spring.
My other projects are finding donors of seeds/plants/materials for our student gardens.
So far I've supplied the tools and plants/seeds along with freecycle! I think with a load of soil, I've spent about $20. Not bad. Nancy

I would like to work on building a shelf with lighting for my seed starts but I am not sure if DH will go along for the ride. Another possibility this winter will be making a mosaic for the entrance of the potager. My hope is that this will also keep rabbits from digging under the gate. Other than that, I will keep building beds and collecting rock.

Am getting ready to plant the twenty flats of pansies I have growing in my basement next week. Plan to back them with Redbor Kale and onions. Maybe a row of mustard too.
Got to collect mulch materials and top off all the beds...

Will continue to tend the fall/winter crops in the potager. I have four beds planted in several kinds of greens, broccoli, carrots, spinach, rutabagas, onions and garlic. Then there will be the holidays, tulip planting in January, seed starting and pruning time in February, and compost spreading in March. Which will bring us back to Spring planting!

I love the sound of your plans, nancyjane! I have a few pottery plant tags I purchased at Craft Fairs over the years, and I love them! Your students are lucky to have you.

I've been looking around for some old wood step ladders to paint up & use as supports for climbers in my garden. Only able to find one 6 footer & really would like an 8 footer so I decided to build 2 folding type support using 2"x2"s & some furring strips.

Wiro Do you have freecycle in your area? Others use craigslist. I've found several ladders on those sites for FREEEE!!!!! Nancy
