when to put poppy seeds on snow

In a message from last August or so, Rosa said she just broadcast poppy seeds on the snow. What time of year did you do that, Rosa? I have 3 year old seeds from a friend, kept dry but not cold, and I just thought I would scatter them about and see what happens.

Go for it. Here I do this anytime between now and mid april. But realize that we have a way longer winter than you, with snow that can occur up till the end of May. Were are you in NJ-I grew up there.
