starting grasses under lights

I just ordered some sideoats gamma and little bluestem from Prairie Nursery, and wanted to start them indoors. I saw a message from Vera and Doctorant that they were successful. What should I do when the seed packets arrive - put them in the fridge? And when should I plant the seed?

i think in NJ u can put them outside for about a month. then get urself a black tray with some good seeding soil and keep it in a fairly warm location with some good sun. maybe some flourescents if they get too tall before u put them out side but heat, water and sun should get em to where u can put them outside.

my guess for time line...if u put them into the fridge today, taken out end of feb, planted and watered till end of april and planted outside may 1st. u might be a bit earlier than that in ur part of the world, im an upper midwest frog.

cheers

froggy
