 o
new soil - small meadow?

I'm new!

I was reading through the "low growing flowers to sew in lawn" thread but figured I'd start a new one since people probably wouldn't check that one anymore.

I've just received a truckload of top soil - and was going to sew it as lawn, but have half a mind of having a meadow/prairie type area. It's only a small area (4mx5m?), and I was going to put a fire pit there too, so the area would be used to put a chair on, walk through. Just some questions about it though...

What do I need to fertilize it with (or do I?)?

Should I throw grass seed down with wildflowers?

Is there any particular wildflower mix I should get (native is probably best eh?)?

Any other things I should know or ask?

I'm new at this.

Look for Prairie Moon Nursery and Prairie Nursery on the web, they will give you good, solid advice on how to start your prairie, and also they have seed mixes for your specific area.
Check them out when you have a chance! April
