Weed or Wildflower?

| I'm guessing a weed..I'll try to describe it (better save up for digital camara rather than seeds!HA)
Soft gray/green leaves forming a rosette, sending out long gray-green stems to about 12", leaves very small and insignificant on the stems (have to look pretty close to see them) and no branching... at the top of each stem are a cluster of individual itsy-bitsy inflorescent sky-blue aster-like flowers with white centers. The total cluster is no bigger than the tip of my finger.
What ever they are their ALL over my wildflower sown area..this and pinepple weed that I see a large population of.
I have looked all over in places near and far from my house and haven't seen it anywhere except in a old raised flowerpot outside an abandoned home.
Thanks for any ideas...
Vera

| Sounds like a forget-me-not (Myosotis). |

Thanks, These are definately not forget-me-nots.... with these there are no petioles but just a small finger size head made up of very minute sky-blue flowers that resemble those of asters....the root is very shallow barely penitrating the soil surface. I have looked at every on-line eastern WA/Wester Idaho weed source I can find and no luck ID'ing yet. Thanks Vera |

Thanks Franeli, I looked it up and no Polemonium viscosum is not it.. Flowers to big and too many leaves along the stem...flowers way to big...do you know what the flowers look like on a heath aster? Very very tiny? Well these are probably even too big for the flowers on this plant...you only see them because the come in clusters giving the impression that it is one from a distance. Can anyone think of any other families besides Asteraceae that have aster-type flowers? I'm trying to think of another way to help explain the tiny globe of the florets...hmmmm how bout an ornamental Alium which bears a globe only 20 times smaller? Sheesh I love the mystery :) Vera |

How about Hackelia floribunda, the Many Flowered stickseed OR the Western Stickseed, Lappula redowskii. Sorry, I don't know what heath asters are. The closest I come to that is the Labrador Tea, Ledum glandulosum I was going to say, the Western Saxifrage because of the fuzzy basal rosettes and the tall stem, but it has white flowers |

| Thanks, The Lappula redowskii was the closest to the looks of this plant tho flowers still too big....imagine these same type of flowers tho smaller like the head of a pin and with ten or so of them together being in total about as big as that single flower on the Lappula redowskii and ONLY at the top of each stem....LOL! This is SOOOOO weird....I've never seen anything like it. I'm bringing one in today to get ID at the college...I'll let you know what I find out :) Vera |
