Return of the Wildflowers

We moved to Texas in August 2000 and bought three acres. The first year the wildflowers were everywhere and looked wonderful. the following Spring it rained alot and the grass was so tall we started having serious snake problems around the house and barn so we mowed. Unfortunately, many of the wildflowers had not gone to seed that first year and for the next several years we had virtually no flowers in that meadow.

That area doesn't get mowed at all anymore and with normal rainfall the taller grasses haven't been so much of a problem either. I have also been throwing out wildflower seeds every year, but haven't seen anything special coming up. Well apparently some wildflowers seeds have to lay around in the soil for a year or two or three before they germinate. This year the wildflowers are BACK!

The hummingbirds are thick, the butterflies are all over the place and they look so pretty - again. Cheryl
