Small, Wildflower border

About a month ago I used roundup to kill (well it looks dead anyway) a 4 x 40 foot area that runs along the property. The strip was formerly lawn grass, and one side of the strip will still be surrounded by lawn grass. I plan to use roundup again in the fall to kill anything else that pops up.

My question is will the lawn that borders up to the strip displace the wildflowers? I'm having nightmeres of grass shooting up and overrunning the wildflowers, is such a thing likely? I am starting from seed and plan to seed fairly heavy as the area is small and seeds are cheap for such a small area. My other question is can I go heavy on the annuals for an immediate effects or will this hurt the long term look of the garden?
