Panicum Shenandoah

I purchased what I thought was Panicum Shenandoah last year. This year the pink seeds appeared but the grass blades have not turned red and it is almost October. Is there a problem or did I not get Shenandoah?

RE: Panicum Shenandoah

Switchgrass needs full sun for best color. Just like trees, the variable conditions of any given year determine the intensity of color that occurs. Soil, sun, rainfall, location and temperature all play a role.

I eagerly wait for my little bluestem dominated prairie to turn in fall. Some years it's outstanding while other years in is rather dull in comparison.
