Need supplier for annuals, ferns

I am considering starting-up a couple of greenhouses to grow annuals, some tropicals, and a few different shrubs. We do considerable landscaping on our own and also have developed relationships with other landscapers looking for good healthy and different stock.

In the past, I've noticed the growers that I buy from, transplanting plants with rootballs as big as my pinky into 4" pots. I'm quessing there must be from 50 to 80 plants growing in each flat. Are these called liners, starts or what? Could someone please share with me the names of some sources for the types of plants I listed above?

Small starts like that are called plugs and are grown in plug trays. If you contact the Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association they should be able to either give you names of growers, or tell you when the next green industry trade show is happening - you'll be able to connect with growers at growers meetings and conventions.
