merchandise shrinkage

| Anyone in a retail nursery care to share what percentage of their plant merchandise is lost to shrinkage?
I've heard there is a standard deduction for shrinkage with IRS but can't find that on the internet. Thought it might give me a bit of an idea what somebody considers "usual".
I'm looking at somewhere around 6%(dollars of dumped/lost plants compared to all plants sold ) in my department and wonder if it's at all in line with what others experience. This would be primarily annuals.
Thanks. |

| No such thing as shrinkage with the IRS. It's all about what you spent and what you made. |

| With the IRS, you bring in $$ income and you have $$ expenses. the difference it taxable. This is a very simple explanation. So with plants, it costs you $$ for all of the supplies for the plants (expenses). and at the end of season, how many $$ of sales did you have. It doesn't matter to the IRS if you had plants disappear or were stolen, just how many $$ did you make. |
