anti smell spray advice

Hi,
I am working on an idea of producing an aerosol spray that can be sprayed on plants in order to lock in unpleasant smells does any reader have any advice or ideas on this subject please

I was wondering what product could be used as the base material to basically coat the plant in a protective layer to seal in unpleasant smells but at the same time not be harmful to the plant or inhibit its growth.

Better still if the product actually promoted healthy growth

Come on guys get your thinking caps on i would be really grateful for any input help or advice absolutely anything thank you.

regards
Rob

Hello,

I for one would like to know of the purpose of such a spray. Could you give us situation where such a product would be used?

I was wondering the same thing ~ if you don't like the smell of plants, I think you are in the wrong business ;)

The door's been opened - obviously, plants smell, produce toxins, camouflage, etc., etc. in order to attract certain pollinators, protect themselves from predators etc. etc. They don't particularly care if you or I might find them noxious or are allergic to them. I don't see what's gained by artificialy masking a plant property when it's just too easy to not have plant material you find noxious in your immediate surroundings.

Did you have a plant or plants in mind? What prompted you to think of this in the first place - observing plants in the wild or under cultivation? Smilax Herbacea? Bradford Pears? Boxwood?

For almost all smelly plants, there is a similar alternative that can be chosen. I'm a big believer in trying to make the plants suit their environment, not the other way around.

I am curious what specific plants you might have in mind though.

I smell a troll under the bridge.
