Building an Oasis

Posted by operationnos Baghdad, Iraq (My Page) on

I'm currently deployed to Iraq with the 4ID out of Fort Hood Texas. I've started a project here to make a garden in front of our MWR (a place to relax) building. I'm new to gardening except for the little projects I've done back at my home in Texas. There's not much accessability to gardening tools and especially not plants where we are at. I'm trying to get tools, seeds, plant food; pretty much anything I can to help get this project off the ground. Does anybody know a group that works to help US projects around the world? or at least a gardening company that ships to APO's?

RE: Building an Oasis

Thank you for your service and sacrifice. You (all) are much in my thoughts.

Your project has 'Garden Club' written all over it, I think. I've attached a link for all Texas garden clubs, including one in Killeen. I'd send off an email to that president and if you don't get a good response, I'd hit on the Chair of the Board of Trustees at the State headquarters.

I'd be SHOCKED if you didn't get some great assistance.

Here is a link that might be useful: Click here
