Is this normal?

I had a landscape designer from a respectable nursery in town come to my home to look at my backyard. I wrote him a check for 75.00 that he charged and noticed yesterday that he did cash it. He came out about 3 weeks ago. He came like on a Friday. The following Monday I noticed he had gotten in contact with utilties people because my yard was starting to get marked up where underground cables, etc. are. I figured he was getting ready to get to work on my yard and all was ok and I was glad.

Well, now with a few days of rain and me mowing the yard, the markings are gone and I hadn't heard a peep from him. I am thinking the utilities people will need to come BACK out to mark it again, because markings are pretty much gone because it's been a couple weeks since markings were sprayed on yard.

I hate to call and nag because I know this is busy time of the year and I'm not having a tree/shrub - natural privacy fence emergency, but if this is not normal to wait this long, then I will call. Is this pretty normal?

You have a perfect reason to make contact without being a nag. That is to let them know that the markings have deteriorated.

Remember that you are right behind the squeekier wheels that have already called and nagged.

Are you in the South Shore area of MA by chance?

Thanks laag. Perhaps I'll call them today. I hate when people don't communicate and you have to feel like you are nagging in wondering when they will show up, etc. I'm thinking if he just cashed my check, then I must have been on his mind as not doing my yard yet and would have thought he might have called to let me know where they stand. I would think with his experience he would have realized with mowing/weather, the markings deteriorating. Oh well, I'll call and ask What's Up? \

I'm in Upstate SC. Why do you ask? Do South Shore people hate to nag? :-)

around here, much to my annoyance, if I call June 1st and request a dig permit for the 21st, the utility companies have a tendency to mark at thier convienance....
often they will mark the yard on the 5th of june, and I'll end up having to call again when I have no clue where anything is.

in theory I still have a legal dig permit for the date I requested.... in pratice, I'm not going to ditch witch 6,000ft of pipe into ground completly blind.

either way, I'd appreciate it if a customer let me know ahead of time.
