transplanting moss sodd

| Has anyone out there tried transplanting moss sod en masse? My goal is not so much to create a pretty landscape as it is to preserve a large amount of moss that will be removed for a construction project. We were thinking of just rolling it up, storing it nicely, and rolling in back out when we are done. Has anyone tried anything like this? Any ideas?

| Should be easy, moss is quite portable. You can even grind it up and use the fragments to start new patches. |

| Put it in the shade and keep it damp. I sprinkle some topsoil on it to weight it down and give it some 'body' so it won't dry out as quick. I have taken moss off Maple trees and put it down on flat rocks with no problem after two years. Sprinkle it with Sedum 'Alba' and you have a nice composition. I have taken moss off the north side of my roof and planted it in old Hibachis with dwarf sedums and rocks. Roof moss is especially tough and can handle being dried out. Works just fine. I then call the roof moss, 'Hibachi Moss'. Hi! But I live near Seattle where I have a hard time keeping the moss off my back. |
