Substrate change post rooting

I made a container to root a pothos out of 50/50 perlite/peat by volume. I thought the soil might not have many nutrients so after a month I watered it with some weak fertilizer solution. The problem is no matter how much I increased the drainage holes the soil stayed completely soaked. I've repotted the cutting into a larger container with normal potting soil now. Is this what I was supposed to do (repot it in normal potting soil once the root system is established)?
