pomegranate seeds

Apples from seeds can taste awful, and so can citrus. But some fruits are naturally sweet (think wild blackberries) and I'm wondering where pomegranates fall. I started a bunch from seeds--they're now about 2" tall and healthy. But then it occured to me that genetic variability may give them poorer fruit quality. I know that if you want to be sure, you should do cuttings, but what I have is starts from seed. I'd hate to put 2+ years in them if they're going to be terrible, but I'd also hate to dump them needlessly. Does anyone have experience with this?
