deep___roots

scheffelaria?

Probably spelled it wrong, but I'm talking about the relatively small, sometimes houseplant that is very cold hardy. Mine lives outside under lath here in Northern CA.

I bonsaied one of these things, but it got kind of big and top-heavy so I had to prune. The 2 large trunks complete with leaves that I pruned laid around outside for a while, then I stuck them in a water filled vase. Leaves are still green, looks like roots are coming out of the trunks or at least little white nodules are forming on the trunks. So is this like a coleus or other plants that form roots by water immersion?

Thanks for any opinions.

p.s. my bonsai resulting from the pruning looks real good now.

I've never started schefflera cuttings by soaking them in water, but have started quite a few by just sticking them in potting soil and keeping them wet. No rooting hormone, no bottom heat ~ nothing special.

Got a picture to share of that bonsai? I'd love to see it if you can easily post it.
