Growing medium/mixture

Posted by ron_2008 (My Page) on

I am going to be taking quite a few softwood cuttings this year after experimenting last year to learn the process.I figure around a couple hundred cuttings from 5 or 6 different flowering shrubs I have growing in my garden. After they have developed a strong root system they will be placed in one gallon black plastic grow pots.

So my question is: what does everyone use for a growing medium/mixture for the grow pots? Any particular things to stay away from?

Thanks!

I would use a mixture of coarse sand , some soil and compost.
This will provide drainage, retain moisture and provide nutrients.
