Are you wanting to grow it outside year round? If so, you need to know what type of Rosemary you get. Some would be hardy (given the right conditions) in your area, but most are not.

We usually buy the supermarket rosemary and use it as cuttings. It is best to use rooting hormone which you should be able to find at any garden center. We recently moved and mine is missing in action. But you just reminded me to get some rosemary next time I am at the supermarket. Just be careful not to overwater it.

If it were me, I'd just hop down to my local nursery and buy a one-gallon "liner" for probably around $5 and plant the thing in my yard. It grows like a weed! All you need for cooking is one, maybe two sprigs at a time.

In the spring, most garden centers will sell Rosemary plants for cheap. And they'll be the variety that should do well in your area. I bought one last year about 8" tall. I cut it back at Christmas to make potpourri. It was well over 2' tall at the time.

I found a landscape with low growing rosemary. It makes a nice border plant does anyone know if this plant keeps its great looks. I pinched off a sprig in Jan. Still looks good I am in hopes that it will spread as the blooms are beautiful and was a very nice looking landscape it was in front of a Whole Foods Store in Sugarland Texas. I know people shouldn't pick on someone's else property. Still not sure where they may be bought so I took a chance. But still like to find a location as it seems to be quite hardy as it is blooming in the winter here in Texas.
