used as a house plant or patio plant taken inside during the winter....in your plant zone.. Soak seed in water for 24 hours then store at 40f for 4 weeks. Then lightly cover with soil mixed with oine bark to increade aeration.... soil temp 65-70f & takes 60+ days to germinate.

Camellia grow here in my 6b-7a location, though those in full flower during the winter may get a bit damaged. Buds can take sub freezing temperatures just fine, even when showing color. We get into the teens fairly regularly here. What is the lowest expected temperature in your location?

Find some coarse sphagnum sheet moss in the garden center and soak it in water. Wring out the excess moisture, put it in a baggie with your seeds and stick them in the 'fridge for several weeks. They may actually germinate in there! Plant in a fast draining soil (pine bark fines are a perfect amendment) in a warm location.

Mine germinated in a week or so, much to my surprise. Oh, if you place the containers outside be SURE to protect them from marauding squirrels and birds. My entire first batch of 30 baby seedlings were snatched shortly after germination.
