Depends on if "small leaf " or "large leaf " azalea. also if evergreen or decidious.....

WE will take a long bottom limb on the azalea bush and loosen some of the dirt , cut some of the bark from limb place a brick on top of it. We will allow the section that is on the ground to form its on roots. W will when it hs roots dig up and place else where.

evergreen azaleas are easy in sand, no root tone & keep damp 4-6 weeks. Root 85-100%.

Al, what a great idea to have a notebook dedicated just to propagation information and techniques. I think that I might do that myself. Those 2 in. thick white 3 ring binders are cheap at the office supply stores and you can slide a label down the side spine between the clear plastic covering. Thanks for sharing your ideas. By making a separate notebook for the propagation ideas/information, it will free my main garden journal for more space.

I just asked my friend the Garden Guru that question. Here in North Florida we have to wait until June. Take a green wood cutting and if it will snap between your fingers it is time to take cuttings.
