grafting a dicidious tree like crimson maple

I very much would like to learn how to make a royal red maple or crimson or automne blaze I think they are bud grafted (the crimson on to a norway) but I don't know the specifics like which bud technique to use and where to put the bud graft, how high up the norway ? I have never successfully grafted anything but I have read a lot on the subject, but everything I read is not specfic for an individual three.

IF the root stock is about the size of a pencil then the graft should be close to ground level as possible. the selection of type of graft is not important your skill with a particular type of graft... the tree species is not important.. A "T-Bud" graft will work on all.... as will any other type of graft.
