Schefflera Cutting?

I snapped a Schefflera (the large-leaved kind) off and am trying to root it. I currently have it in a pot with moist perlite.

When I took it from the mother plant, the node (I'm assuming) came with it, so it's not just a stem. The little dark green notch at the base of the stem. This gives me encouragement that it should root.

Now that I've totally confused you all.....

reduce leaf area.... apply 0.1% IBA rooting hormone & mist then if you do have a node & piece of stem you should seed root formation in 20-50 days .
