Yes, Another coleus question!!

My question is when taking cuttings do you always have to use the end (terminal bud)of the coleus branch, or can you pinch down the stem and root more cuttings like that? If you don't know what I mean picture cutting off a coleus branch, then cut the top off of it so you're left with a stem, 2 leaves/buds and 2 cut ends.

I did an experiment where I stuck a coleus that was pinched further down the stem, with 2 leaves attached. It rooted but the new growth looks deformed! Its contorted and the leaves are scrunched up in places.

Not sure if this is rare but I just stuck 44 cuttings and only 7-8 of them were terminal stems! Here's hoping!
