Sandcherry & blueberries both ..the % of rooting hard wood cuttings is very low!!!!! Best to take cuttings of firm new growth june through august. apply 0.8% IBA (rooting hormone)stick in well drained soil & mist.

When you say well drained soil, would the mix be the same for all cuttings, blueberries, roses, etc.? And would it be like half potting mix and half sand?

I've always rooted cuttings in pure sand. I always pour boiling water over it and let it cool before potting. I've rooted figs and gooseberry this way. I probably should have used rooting hormone, too, though.
