Hi. I have two very large rosemary plants that I would like to take cuttings from. Can anyone tell me when and how to do this. In case it matters, I have a heating mat and a light unit. Thanks. SAM

Can take cuttings any time & can use soft wood or hardwood. (I prefer hard wood 2" long on bottom & then 2" soft wood on top). Apply 0.1% IBA rooting hormone. stick in well drainned soil & mist taking 25-60 days to root. Bottom heat speeds up the rooting process.

georgez...nice to hear from you again. Thanks alot. I had no idea that cuttings would take that long to root, but its alot less time than growing them from seed. Have a great weekend. Sam

RE: Rosemary Cuttings, when and how.

I had one large rosemary plant which was brought in over the winter. I recently took tip cuttings, about 4-5 inches in length, put them in water in baby food jars under shoplights, and they rooted within a few weeks. I transpalnted them to small dixie cups and they are growing in soil under lights and are putting out new growth. Easy.
