misting cuttings

I made some cuttings and put them in a mini greenhouse.
after a couple of days i noticed that they are suffering leaves looking ready to die.
I read somewhere that you can use a regular cool mist humidifier to add humidity to the mini greenhouse.
so i put a regular baby "cool mist humidifier" in the greenhouse at the lowest level , and in just one day the leaves and stem looked more upright and very vital.

I have two questions.
1. how long should i keep misting cuttings?

2. should the misting be something constant , or should i use a timer (which i have) to put intervals between misting?

if you have any other wisdom you can contribute about misting cuttings this way it would be appreciated.

thanks
