| Hi all!
I'm new to the site and figured I'd make my first post in the propagation forums since its such a facinating topic. I would like to take a hardwood cutting from a beech tree in my yard and grow it in a pot in my house. My question is will the cutting root if I take it now, before bud burst, or should I wait until after leaf-out? Any comments would be a great help. |

| American Beech is famously difficult to propagate by cuttings. It is typically grown from seed. Also, like all other deciduous hardwood trees, it would not take kindly to the indoor environment at any time of the year....but most especially during the fall and winter when it needs a cold winter dormancy. |
