We have several delicious apple trees and one Granny Smith tree. We hardly use the GS apples and would like to graft a scion from one of the delicious to the GS. From what I read about grafting, I keep seeing that the scion needs to be "dormant" and that right now, April is a good time to graft. What problems can I expect if I just cut a growing scion from one the delicious trees and immediately graft it to the GS tree?
