I am somewhat inexperienced in gardening, only growing some bulbs and rose bushes. Well, I recently bought a box of bleeding heart roots/bulbs and have NO idea which way is up or down and am not familiar with the more technical terms used here. I was so worried they weren't showing any growth that I dug them up and found little white roots? Not sure what the white is. Is it the root or new stem growth. It seems that it(the white) is growing up in direction. Is this correct and should it be just under the soil level? I have looked and looked for pics and can't find anything that looks right any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
