I always use one with a fungicide. Decades ago when I had a greenhouse where I did armature controlled experiment as a hobby, for my amusement, I often found the fungicide to be more useful than the hormone.

I use Clonex Gel. If you try it once, you will want to use it all the time. I can root plants with it that I never was able to root before. It's great!

Do you use any special kind like Clonex Red or use it with the solution too?

I just use the purple gel. I haven't tried any other kind. I tried the cheap Rooting powders at Wal-mart and they didn't work for me. The Clonex gel is great.

What brand does Wal-Mart sell? I have Schultz's from Home Depot, and I'm not persuaded that it does anything. I have a liquid concoction available, but I haven't tried it.

I'm too old to pay much attention anymore - there is a Rootone in a white bottle that has one hormone and one fungacide - but I don't think there was anything better than the old Rootone in the red screw topped jar with two or three hormones and one or more fungicides. The shelf life of that stuff should be decades unless it been opened and taken in moisture so if you can find some on ebay, get that. You may hard pressed to do better.

I found my magnifying lense. I am using 0.2% 1-napthaleneacetamide and 4.04%Thiram (tetramethy thirumdisulfide) I no longer do more than six pots with three cuttings each and the fungicide is is not working well. Next year I will try more bleach in oxidane (vbg.) and bleach longer or [something else perhaps].

I use Dip & Grow. Haven't had a problem with it.
