if its iris.. it is common.. on digging, splitting and replanting.. that the leaves brown.. did you cut them back .. aka 'fan them'?

I think the op is referring to Daylillies, Hemerocallis. They are almost impossible to fail, so stop worrying about how they look. I have some grown from seed, about ready to bloom three years after planting. Because they cross so readily I am excited to see what the bloom looks like. There are over 50,000 named varieties registered. Many amateurs experiment with crossing Hemerocallis to see if they can come up with yet another variety. Al
