I'm brand new to attempting propagation. My snapdragon plants really blew up this spring so I had to trim them back quite a bit. I saved a great deal of the clippings and have done the following to try and get roots off the cuttings. Note that the cuttings were from stems that had already spent blooms which I trimmed off before planting.
1.) Trimmed the leaves off the base of where I cut at a 45 degree angle.
2.) Lightly shaved some of the stem off at the bottom of the cutting and dipped it in root hormone.
3.) Placed the cutting into seed starting soil that was damp but not wet.
4.) Placed the seed tray into a hot house with a seedling heat mat below it to promote humidity.
Questions:
Did any of what I did during the proprgation process above sound wrong?
Can snapdragons even be cloned from cuttings?
***note*** I also collected a lot of seed pods from the plant so I will also be trying to propagate from seed. Any advice?
