Most plants that CAN be propagated by cuttings are "easy" IF YOU FOLLOW THE PRESCRIBED PROCEDURES (1) cutting taken at the correct stage of growth & time of the year (2) properly prepare the cutting (3) apply correct strength of rooting hormone (4) use steril well drained soil. (5) provide aeration (6) mist the cuttings to prevent dehydration (7) apply bottom heat if needed

Coleus and Iresine -- beautiful foliage - the iresine can give a huge "pop" in your shade garden of RED and they are both very easy - stick clipping in water, put in a bright kitchen window (not direct) sun and wait for a couple of weeks. Soon, you'll get those little white rootlets -- pot 'em up and voila! New plants!
Great for school projects. We had a whole greenhouse of multi-colored coleus going -- easy for all the kids to do and see results quicly.

The easiest imho is sedum. I was pinching back my autumn joy sedum one year and tossed the pinchings into an old cinder block, by the end of the summer I had sedum growing out of the cinder block.

Many cacti and succulents just propagate by cuttings naturally. Above ncdirtdigger mentions one group. Several cacti in the Arizona desert just drop segments which root and grow after the occasional rain.

Nit. It is propagate, not propogate. I made the mistake myself many times before spell checkers.

pineapple is pretty easy. Break the crown off, clean off any fruit with knife, tear off a few leaves, let dry for 24hrs put in water and watch roots grow no hormone needed.

I've had great luck with: sedum, impatiens, wave petunias, coleus, chelone, phlox paniculata, and chrysanthemums. My friends swear that rose cuttings are easy, but I've not had great luck.

In my limited experience, I've found that Wandering Jew roots incredibly fast! In water, I've seen root evidence within a week; and in soil, I've seen new growth unfurling within four days (during the growth season).

Boxwood are easy - 50-50 coarse sand and peat and keep the soil mix moist. spray the foliage with water several times a day and keep out of direct sunlight.

spartangardener: I've always heard and read that rose cuttings are easy too.. lol.. and I've never even had 1 of them root for me. This year I am learning a lot more though and have set up the mini propagation chambers. There are rose cuttings in some of them now, wish me luck!
