pseudowintera colorata

I would like to propagate cuttings from my Pseudowintera colorata shrub and there are several branches that could use a little pruning to keep it back off my steps in my woodland. I'm hoping that the time to prune will correspond with the time to do cuttings.
What is the right time to stick cuttings?
And are there any other tips for success for this plant?
Thanks
