How could I have missed this!

I have a simple question; but I am wanting to expand my garden, and plant more green beans (and other) varieties that I started earlier in the year for a second/late crop here in about 1-month. I was thinking that I needed to run to the store and get more seeds. However, I am staring at my green-beans that have near turned to shellies, and wondering, can't I just plant these after I pick them on off the vine? Will they grow and flourish like the store-bought ones? Do I need to dry them out first?

Second question, I inadvertently planted a cutting of from my tomato plant, and it took off and rooted. Will this be a good system to grow additional tomatoes in the late season without having to create new starts?
