Eucalyptus propagation

There area a few threads here asking about this, all a few years old. Has anyone had success since then? I could go get another little $7 tree but had assumed I would be able to propagate at will with the first one.

If the outlook on that really is as dim as my investigation leads me to believe, how long until a little tree makes some seeds? Your experience getting them to sprout? How are your seedlings doing?

The tree I have is E. polyanthemos, if different types behave differently.

Here are details of propagation from cuttings:

Here is a link that might be useful: Eucalyptus from cuttings

Thanks for the response, but I'm well acquainted with general propagation techniques. The link you provided contains this sentence. "Not all species of plants can be propagated from cuttings. Cuttings taken from species of Eucalyptus do not readily form roots." This is pretty much what I found looking at a TON of websites regarding Eucalyptus propagation, and reading every thread on these forums that mentioned Eucalyptus.

I was hoping to hear from someone who has actually done it, but there may not be anyone if E really is so averse to making roots via cuttings.

Calistoga aka Al, here on GW, is a propagation expert - if he says it can't be done, then I believe it - otherwise, give it a try.

I think that you'll have decent luck finding seeds, purple. I wouldn't even keep trying to find methods of asexual propagation for this plant.
