RE: Penstimon - Propagation?

Can take cuttings of firm new growth... apply 0.1% IBA (Rooting hormone) Stick in well drained soil & mist taking 15-30 days to root.

RE: Penstimon - Propagation?

How long should the cutting be and does it have to be cut at the base of the plant or just any of the new growth stems?
I have a small jar of rooting hormone I purchased at Lowes so should I just dip the end of the cutting in the horomone?
Keep in the shade or direct sunlight?

Thanks for the help.

RE: Penstimon - Propagation?

You can root these cuttings in water very easily. I have seen many of these done. If you look at the bottom of the stems, you will notice they have little white bumps that will make roots least the one I bought today has them.

You can also collect the seed and winter sow them. They reseed readily, at least mine does.
