How big of a failure is this going to be?

Okay, so I'm pretty sure this isn't going to work out well but I really have nothing to lose so I thought, "Why not directly plant these huge bougainvillea branches and try to cover these old wood arbors..."
We have a bougainvillea that we cut back to a stump in preparation for a vegetable garden. It came back vigorous as ever and since it's going to have to be cut back again, I decided to cut some new 4 foot branches in the hopes that I can use them to quickly cover some posts.
I cut them at a 45 degree angle, stripped the lower leaves, dipped them in Root Boost rooting hormone and stuck 'em in the ground.
We just over seeded our lawn, so they'll be getting watered 4-5 times a day with small amounts of water. Temps are in the high 80's to low 90's during the day and around 60 at night.
Is there a chance that these will root or am I out of my mind?
