| Hi snapthecat, Welcome to Garden Web, and The Plant Propagation Forum. There is a search box just below the list of threads on page 1 here. The first one Easy Propagation Chamber is a great post about a home made one. Sue |

| Good question - There are many ways to perform plant propagation. Some plants can simply be cut and plopped into a glass of water and they grow roots, but it all depends on the plant and the water/environment. If you want to build a propagator or cloning "machine" this will only help in your efforts to clone or propagate. The Easy Propagation Chamber post above is no doubt a better way to clone vs. sticking the cutting in water. If you want to experiment with Hydroponics/Aeroponics, Id suggest making your own cloning machine. This is obviously more expensive but has an incredible rate of success and takes lots of pain away from the cloning process. Of course, it all depends on the plants you are cloning I just finished building my own cloning machine after seeing several plans on the Internet and other commercial cloning machines such as the EZ-Cloner. For the price of a rubbermaid container, some neoprene inserts, cloning gel, some thrive-alive B-1 and an inexpensive pump and PVC you can build your own. I'll be writing a HOWTO on building your own soon, but in the meantime you can see some of the pictures of my cloning machine and maybe build your own. Happy cloning! |
