why do baby fruits drop prematurely?

Hi All,
I see this happen to all trees in my backyard - oranges, apples, persimmons, quinces. Sometimes in large numbers. Some of them turn yellow and drop off. Why? Is it me? Something that I did or did not do?
Thanks so much

Try posting this in the fruit growers forum, where you are sure to get a quick response. Al

I live in Florida and our odd weather has caused fruit drop here, too. Plants don't like extreme changes - whether it is change in the level of light, water or no water, etal. Also, check to see if you have an outbreak of spider mites, scale or mealy bugs - they cause fruit drop as well.

It may also be possible that the plant keeps an eye on them as they develop, and cancels any that don't seem right.

Sometimes they don't get pollinated and like Ken wrote,if there are too many flowers and fruit, the plant can keep them in check somewhat. Brady
