Hosta flower stalk cuttings

I carried some of this over from the Hosta forum.

Some times a hosta flower stalk will also have a small leaf or two about 1/2-3/4 of the way up it. My question was listed as part of a discussion elseware. There were no responses.

Anyone care to take a short?

The originalpost was Re. propogating hosta stem & leaf cutting w/rooting hormone.

Flower stalks some times have a small leaf or two. They resemble in miniature the parent plant. Has any one tried to root the flower stem just below the small leaf?

I wonder if the cells in the flower stalk are different than the cell in the leaf petiole. If they were all flower cells they wouldn't produce a leaf would they? The stalk is more firm, similar to the crown than the leaf petiole.

If you wound the stem will it callous over?

Any thoughts on this ?

Thanks Ron
