Which plants can I bring inside for the winter?

I would love to overwinter basil, oregano, petunia, geraniums and just anything in my garden. Is there a list of plants that can be overwintered? Are the any that will not? Any particular rules or do I wing it?

You can bring in almost any plant as long as the conditions inside your home or (?) are good for growing that plant.....
