2-liter/Soda Bottle method...cap or no cap?

Getting ready to do a few cuttings (first attempt!) and thought the soda bottle method looked easy enough. I did have one question that I didn't read in any of my searches. My question is, am I supposed to leave the cap or leave it off?

I generally leave it on to start with, keeping the bottle in shade or semi-shade, of course; then when i can see roots or new growth I'll start opening the cap for periods (so the atmosphere doesn't suddenly get too dry) and eventually expose the entire plant, i.e., remove the bottle. Gary
